Hours
24/7
This Division is comprised of all uniformed services. It is the most visible unit in the Department. This Division is the first responder to most calls for service.
Patrol
There are currently 28 officers assigned to 24 hours a day, 7 day a week response to citizen-initiated calls for service, in addition to officer-initiated activity. The Patrol Division works three 8-hour shifts per day.
School Resource Officer
The Belton Police Department has one officer assigned to the Belton Independent School District. This officer has an office in the High School, but frequents all the other campuses during the day. This officer provides safety for staff, students and visitors through education, counseling, intervention and enforcement.
Reserve Police Officers
The Reserve Program is comprised of men and women who aspire to be police officers. They must meet the same qualifications as an entry-level officer and have either their reserve license or regular license from the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Standards and Education. They are fully commissioned with the same authority as a police officer, while on duty. They are required to work 16 hours per month, attend training and maintain proficiency in firearms, defensive tactics and patrol procedures. They work with regular officers on any assignments and are frequently used as patrol officers, supplementing shift shortages.
