The Belton Fire Department (BFD) was established in 1871. It is a 27 member department consisting of:
- Fire Chief
- Assistant Fire Chief
- Three Fire Captains
- 21 Fire Fighters/Drivers
Members include
- 11 paramedics
- 14 Basic Emergency Medical Technicians
- One administrative support staff member
The BFD is a combination fire department with 24 career firefighters and 30 volunteer firefighters. Fire Chief Roy Harmon is the director of the BFD. Chief Harmon holds an Advanced Fire Fighting Certificate and is a State Certified Paramedic, Certified Inspector, and an Arson Investigator.
The department's Central and Sparta Station operates three shifts, rotating their personnel using a twenty-four hours on-duty and forty-eight hours off-duty system.
